New brake servo bracket in place
This post is to update on the work in progress (2 weeks ago I fitted the bracket on the driver/pedals side see pictures), this WE I completed the installation and test of the new bracket as preliminary mods of the air box.
As someone can remember the scope of my design was to develop a bracket that could be fitted keeping the original air box (someone confirmed my concerns dealing with the quality of air (smell) after the installation of the new snorkel) with the scope to fit an air dust filter (just to prevent clogging of the AC and heating matrix).
Keeping the original air box compelled me to use a 4 mm Stainless Steel plate as main bracket with just 2 square bracket. The plate is directly bolted to the bulkhead (just few sylicon sealant) 3*M6 screws, it results very rigid, using the snorkel the brackets are bolted on the top of the snorkel flange, it should be plastic, IIC the assembly will not be so rigid.
The final result is very very effective, note the 2 legs/arms that extend towards the air-inlet with the scope to share tilting force on a larger area-
More complex and time spending is the mod of the air box, the simple air filter is quite easy to be installed (to be finished) and serviced via a window cut in the wall (to be closed with screws), I'm searching to seal completely the top of the air box with the main air inlet at the base of the front windscreen TO PREVENT the rain water to drip around the air box and wet the brake mechanism(rust). So I'm machining a pls plate that has to match the box top square opening and the windscreen base inlet, very tough work, I just machined a prototype.
As usual who likes it can copy and use for personal use, not for business.
The same workhould be done on the wiper motors side, install a plate with an hole a a drain pipe to collect the water underfloor ... very common solution
