Timing up VVC (again!)
Hi,
I have undertaken the task of replacing the Cam belt and water pump myself.
The cam pulleys are locked with the locking tool with the timing marks in the right place. the crank pulley is positioned with the 2 dots eitherside of the timing line (12 o'clock) Having got the new water pump installed I am left with the cam belt but on checking the timing marks on the rear cam the marks are not in line, the one on the left is down at 5 (on the clock face) and the other at 11.
I have read other threads but it is getting a bit confusing - Please can someone advise what i should be doing next and in what order to correct my timing - should i remove no.1 spark plug to check when piston is at the top?
Many thanks in advance
