ZR 160 Issues, EML.
Hey guys,
Had the ZR160 for nearly a year now, all has been well up until recently.
When I start my car up from old, the engine seems to be misfiring rather badly, you can hear it spluttering, if I start driving off it is down on power and doesnt want to rev at all, then the EML starts flashing. If i pull over and let it idle for a minute then move off, the problem does not reoccur and I can drive normally (no sluggishness or unwillingness to rev). This never happens once i have driven for a few minutes, even with spirited driving,
I am unsure if this is related, but for the past few months, if i take the car up to 60MPH soon after setting off (before it has fully warmed up) the temp gauge will slowly rise up to the top. When this happens i clutch in and let it idle for a minute, then when the temperature drops back down to its usual position i can continue on and go full speed (60/70MPH) for the whole journey without any overheating issues what so ever, when this happens the coolant spits out the expansion tank (over pressured?). This only ever happens from a cold start, if i stop and the engine is still warm, it will not happen on my next journey. If I start driving from cold and I keep at a slow speed (40/50MPH) until the car is fully warmed up, then move up to 70MPH, it will not overheat at all, sticks at the normal temperature.
Both of these issues seem to from cold starts, so i am unsure if they are related.
I am planning on taking it to a garage anyway, for a service and to fix an engine mount (sometimes get a nice clunk straight up the accelerator pedal if i'm not to smooth with the clutch). I am just wondering if you guys have any suggestions? As i want to have some idea so i can tell the garage and get some figure on cost.
Cheers,
