ZS Wont Start

Ive tried turning it over this morning, and it sounds like its turning but its not firing up the battery is only a year old, Ive had someone turn it over, and I can see the alternator is turning, any idea if its the battery is rubbish or the starter motor trouble?, the terminals are getting very hot and its smoking from engine bay. Any ideas?
