Cooling fan problems
I recently renewed my head gasket on a Rover 100 Ascot 1.4 1998 model.
After changing the head I noticed that the radiator fan was not operating.
With help from this site I found a new sensor and dully fitted it, ran up the engine and still no fan, when I unplug the wiring block from the fan sensor the radiator fan fires up instantly, this also happens with the old sensor.
It all worked well before the head change.
The sensor is not the type that fits on the radiator, it is the one that sits on an elbow just in front of the distributor.
I'm thinking it may be some electrical problem to or from the sensor, the fan runs fine when unplugged, the fan only turns when the engine is on, and runs for a few seconds after turning the engine off, but it has always done this though and I think this is normal on these models.
Has anyone got any ideas, I am using the car fine with the fan constantly running, but the fan will not really last that long being constantly used.
