egr pump

hello on my rover 45 the small vacuum pump that attaches to the egr dose not seem to be working, what problems can this cause?



also when the car has been running for about 10 mins and is up to departure i seem to be getting a strange repetitive noise coming from the pas anger side of the engine its like a rer rer rer rer rer it dose not sound like a bad noise but my other 45 diesel never made a sound like it, could this be linked to the egr pump not working
