mg zr 115 sdi's without decat + panel/cone?
Hi all,
I have a question about decats and SDI's, also air filters. Maybe this has been on many times but I couldn't find it in the how to of sdi's or decat/threads.
Since I live in Belgium MOT is different I think, its not legal to decat the car and I just saw it isn't either in the UK since this year. I have asked about it and the people from "mot" in Belgium confirmed and say it will be tested and will also be checked visually.
To be honest I would only decat the car if it would make the car smoke less with sdi's.
I wouldn't decat it for power but more for the smoke problem. I'm guessing if the decat works well, it should be burning the "gasses" am I right, which should reduce smoke? But on the other side, it would restrict air flow and gasses would be collected in the cat because of the air flow restriction.
So since I can't really find a consensus about cats and decats my question is if a working cat would give more smoke than a decat?
I just bought SDI's from a 10 000 miles rover so I have those. Boost gauge will be arriving this week, and I'll be looking at buying a better air filter. Maybe also egr blanking if that would do something.
I read different things about cones and panels. Some say its more noise and panel filters are more power, but to me it seems logic that the cones will provide more air, which is what I need to reduce smoke. Eventho I'm not a fan of the sound of it. Suggestions? BMC/ITG panel filter or a good cone? This would mainly be to reduce the smoking!
I don't want to buy an induction kit because I can only find them at prices of 250-300 euros which is too expensive. Maybe a used one I will search.
