Never had this before

Been doing some de-rusting behind the rear bumper, and needed to turn the car round, started the engine and the EPAS isn't working as I manoeuvre the car. Haven't disconnected anything electrical, all I've done is jack the rear up onto axle stands and do a bit of rust-grinding. First thought was drive to the end of the road and back to get a few mph showing and see if that wakes it up. Sure enough, all back to normal (apart from the now loose numberplate falling off and not being able to find it until the next day:daft:)

Happened to anyone else?
