Rover 75 - general advice please
Rover 75 Saloon Club
2.5L V6 180bhp
Good strong clutch
Quiet stainless exhaust
X-Reg / 2000
Roughly 90k miles
Colour:
History: Bought in London a few years ago, via ebay. It was very fast and smooth after I replaced the clutch (that part has done less than 10k miles). For example, it still accelerated well from 120 mph, and the VIS on this one was actually fun. Then the VIS stopped working, making it much more ordinary to drive. Then I crashed and bent an alloy at low speed on ice, and never restored it (just replaced the wheel with no geometry tuning).
Today: MOT expired, unwashed, flat rear tyre, and an empty battery - it hasn't moved in almost 12 months. There are various boxed replacement parts in the car that I had planned to use (gear cables, thermostat, etc.) and I didn't sell because I had every intention of one day restoring it.
Problem: No time to give to repairs, and no sympathy from the wife to spend money on restoration. I'm now about to take a year off work for more university studies, so I have no spare money, and I cannot take this car with me.
Help? What are your suggestions at a time like this? Are there any Rover faithfuls who would like to prevent this car from being scrapped? It will jump-start, the battery will hold charge (battery is about 3 years old), its not noisy (exhaust has done 5k miles), and it will pull hard... I cannot bring myself to sell for cash because in its current state it would only attract the wrong type of buyer.
