Wiper issue

had the drivers side wiper linkage rod drop off when wiper was coming up and then had the passenger side one stop against it, due to being in traffic couldn't stop straight away.



Anyway, put linkage back on but now wipers won't work on intermittent or slow setting.



They work on single wipe (push down) and on fast wipe, however; when you leave stalk go on single wipe or turn wipers off on fast wipe the wipers just stop and do not return to the park position.



Did tried searching forums but not found a thread with this problem, so anyone come across it and have an idea what maybe wrong or also may know of a thread where this issue has been seen before?



Need some ideas of where to start (fuse/wiper control stalk/motor) before I start pulling things apart
