Worn brake master cylinder seals?
Hi,
Has anyone felt their master cylinder has worn or had leaky seals?
My symptoms (if you can call them that): the brakes don't seem to do much at all when first pressing (certainly compared to my other cars that I dirve), then they will start to work with a good prod. What gets me a little worried is when the car is sat (engine off), and pressure is put on the pedal, it tends to slowly carry on compressing, even after a couple of prods. Other cars I've had, including our current XTrail and Mondeo all have a solid brake pedal after two prods and hold this solidity.
Is this description normal for the 180, or is is suggestive that something like the seals in the master cylinder could be leaking? There is no fluid leak anywhere in the system. The entire system was also bled thoroughly. And as per my other thread, I had the car on track for several hours the other night, and had no real issues with high speed performance, but they pedal does feel very soft and it worries me that there may be an underlying issue that is brewing. Any comments please?
Cheers!
