MG ZT Remote Key-Fob query.
I have already purchased one of these "virgin" chip Key-Fobs :~
ZT Remote Key-Fob
I can get the blank blade cut/ground locally to match my existing Key. Then, I will need to have the chip cloned or matched to the gizmo in my car. Is there anyone with the necessary equipment ( T4 ? ) recommended within say a fifty mile radius of Gloucester who can do this for a reasonable sum?
My ever helpful Locksmiths near me have the kit to copy/clone the chip in my Rover 600 Keys using the one key available so I wonder if the kit they use can do the same for the ZT jobbies.
The need for a second key apart from the obvious problems with only one key for the car has become a tad urgent lately. 1.5 cm of the thin inner part of the Key's Blade between the Zig-zag cuttings has become bent although still attached to the blade of the car's original factory key. It has to be carefully realigned before it can be used in the Ignition Switch. It is only a matter of time before it fractures off.
Fortunately I had a copy cut whilst the original key was in good shape so have transferred the original internals to that empty blank. It works well but, I really need another active key.
Attached image shows a close up of the fractured blade. Caused by metal fatigue from repeated use over eleven years I suspect. Never seen anything like that with a key before.
Any help of recommendations most welcome.
