T'was the night before FRM and my MG broke ! Ideas ?

Nothing major thankfully...



Last night, the lights above the speedo that light the dials (I have replaced with LED's) began to flicker.



It was the left one above the rev counter. Tonight it stopped working altogether. Very quickly afterwards, the right one flickered and then also stopped working.



Took the speedo out and got to the white panel holding the 2 lights and circuit board, got a brief flicker followed by a tiny amount of white smoke and a burning smell that quickly dissipated. The white smoke appeared to come from the grey wire which attaches to the circuit board from the back of the speedo unit, i.e centrally, not from one end where the bulbs are. Bulbs look fine.



Any ideas ? Lots of tinkering but to no avail. Have put it all back together and will have to go on our night-time run with no dash lights.



All other lights are ok - oil temp, all dash warning lights etc.
