Vat
Yes, that damned tax they shove on stuff. Here in Oz, we have our own version called the GST (sometimes called the Government Swindle Tax).
I'm trying to buy a spoiler from the UK. The bloke (a breaker) selling the spoiler, reckons I have to pay VAT and then claim it back because, being in Australia, I don't have to pay it on goods bought in the UK. I get that.
But pay it and then claim it back?
For starters, I've bought stuff from the UK before and never had to pay VAT.
Assuming I do have to pay up front and then claim it, does anyone have any clues on how I'd actually go about claiming it back? If I don't get the money back fairly quickly, it's the difference between a moderately expensive spoiler and a very expensive spoiler.
