Engine straight swap?
Hi All,
I've been offered a 1.8 K16 engine plus ancillaries at a silly price. I know it's kosher - without going into boring details it's the project engine of a mate's son who's just completed a C&G in motor engineering. His dad's a retired Volvo dealership service manager too so I have total faith that the work's been done right. Basically it's had a complete strip down and rebuild, including new HG, water pump, thermostat, belts, pulleys etc. It's also been fully serviced and bench tested for over 40 hours with no problems. It's from a 2003 45 Impression S that was being scrapped following an insurance write off.
Simple question: would this engine drop straight into my 2000 (W) 45 1.6 Club? I wouldn't be doing the work myself (way beyond my level of expertise sadly) and I wouldn't do it just for the sake of it. But beyond having to inform my insurer and the DVLA, are there any technical barriers stopping me?
Thanks!
