mg zr+ 1.4 2004 runing badly!! need help!

just bought the car and its running pretty poorly and should be performing way better than it is. it does run and drive but its pretty loud and just seems a little off.

the top speed is maxing out at 90/95 mph way below what it should be and the 0-60 is really sluggish

the battery light is also constantly on with a new battery installed, dont know if this could be connected?



the car has had the head skimmed

mg tf 135 cams installed

vvc inlet manifold installed with ported inlets

and after market pod air filter (car performs a little better when the engines cold- im guessing that is probably due to the engine bay getting hot and the engine sucking in hot air)



i have checked the spark plugs and they look to be in good condition and not worn out



i know it could be any manor of things causeing this bad performance so trying to diagnose somthing you read about on a post is pretty difficult, but any light thats shed on the matter would be really much appreciated.
