rover 25 '52 randomly warming up and cooling down.

Evening Folks....



I have a puzzler for you that i am trying to get my head around.



3 day's ago i noticed that my temp gauge was creeping up and going back down but not all the time.



I drive 20 miles to work and back, mostly on the dual carriageway. I just get the the junction on ramp for the D/C when i notice that the temp warms to where it should be then keeps going to the max mark and then i need to ease off for it to cool down.... However driving the remainder of the journey at 70mph i dont really see a change in the temp at all...... and the same coming home, it randomly goes up, for me to ease off for it to settle, but not at any designated speed or time.



I checked the water bottle yesterday after getting half way to work, as i was worried nd noticed the bottle was below min but not empty, so i filled the bottle with my water to mid level.

Drove off and within 5 mins the temp lever had gone over hot again and i needed to pull over to allow it to cool down.



When I got home i let the car cool down and idle, whilst i checked the water bottle level. The bottle was empty. So i undid the cap, and all of the water filled the bottle and overflowed, then within 3/4 the water level had leveled back to normal....... Whilst leaving the engine idle, every now and then I would notice the level go up or down, but be bubbling whilst flowing, and naturally the water would be steaming.



Also the heaters in the car.... The forward facing fans would not blow hot air, however the windscreen blowers would be.



HELP !
