MG ZS Diesel Wont Rev Passed 4k

Hi all,



Just sold my rover 220SDI and have recently purchased a 53 reg MG ZS as a daily work horse! really tidy car just need to do the usual mods for power gains a new zs splitter on the front and I have wind deflectors coming next week for it.



I got the car with a dead battery so I have bought a new battery (correct for the car!) but it wont rev passed 4k RPM what could be the cause of this. I have a new MAF sensor to try on it but just looking for some input please
