V8 Grille

Hi everyone, nice to be admitted to this site, previously helped enormously with condensation problems.

I have a 2004 Rover 75 from new. I had a choice for different fronts and I chose the V8 grille.

The grille over the years became loose. I thought it was held by some type of clip. However I have now removed and discovered different clips attached to the body and the s/steel trim was stuck to the clips by a powerful glue.

The top clips seem to be loose (I think purposefully).

My questions are, what type of glue is best, and the best way of removing existing glue from clips.

Your help would be much appreciated.

I am now going to try and attach photos. (I am a silver surfer haha)
