Do I need to fit an amp

Hi folks

Am upgrading my sound system have bought a pioneer deh-x6600 stereo and I am fitting new jbl gto front speakers etc.

I am sound proofing entire car with silent coat 2mm and 4mm deadener and using silent coat egg box foam behind speakers. Also am toying with the idea f fitting rear jbl speakers in door card behind front seats as don't want them to be set in rear shelf.

But do I need to fit an amp to system to? Have read on other threads that if I don't it will be like having a Ferrari with a corsa engine in it.i don't want a boom boom sound in my car as I'm getting on a bit now or to be heard 2 mile down the road just want a decent sound in my mg zr td.

So can I get away without an amp.
