MG-ZR Advice please?
Hello all!
I decided to resurrect my forum account to ask for some advice for a mate of mine. Having had an MG F a few years ago I know you can be a helpful bunch (at times :-p ).
Now bear with me as im not mechanically minded!
So, A friend of mine has an MG ZR that refused to start. The mechanic replaced the glow plugs, and found another issue which is stated has "injection problems" and said that it could potentially cost around 4-500 to fix, and he doesnt have the right kit etc to sort it. At this point my mate is looking to scrap the car. He has called 2 places so far an the best he has been offered is £105 in its current state. The car is not safe to drive, a lot of white smoke and no power etc.
So I guess the questions are:
Do the symptoms of loss of power, white smoke etc point to injector problems?
Does 4-500 sound realistic to sort it?
If he does give up, maybe a breaker would give a better price? Or know of anywhere better to get rid?
Its a 54 plate 5 door diesel in black.
Thanks!
