Gearstick feels loose (no spring?)

I have a late 2004 Streetwise 1.4 (103bhp) and when in neutral the gearstick has no spring to it if you see what I mean, it just wobbles around the gate with no resistance whatsoever.



It still selects gears no problem and doesn't pop out of gear at all it just all feels very loose.



I've done a search and come up with the issues surrounding the UJ on the PG1 box however am I right in thinking that my box will be the R65? Is this a similar issue or something else altogether?



PS it's been like this since a got the car a few months ago so don't really know what it should feel like!
