Clonking noise on taking up drive

Hi all
My F has started to clonk intermittently when taking up drive, usually in 1st, occasionally in 2nd. It seems to happen more frequently when the steering is turned to the left, but that may be my imagination. Any ideas? Worn bush(es)? Something more serious?
