K-Series temperature gauge readings soon after engine start.

Do keep in mind that although the temperature gauge needle may reach "normal" warm position relatively quickly, chances are the engine and more importantly, its engine oil are not up to optimum operating temperature. Particularly during the cooler months of the year.

Bear that in mind before giving the car full throttle. Particularly if your K-Series is turbocharged.

Compare that to the Rover T-Series. That engine usually needs at least five miles before the needle on the temperature gauge reaches its normal reading position. Even then, the Engine, Oil and Turbocharger may not be fully warmed again particularly during the cooler seasons.
