2001 V6 water leak

greetings all...........................

I have a 2001 75 diesel that I've owned for 8 years an put 100k on. I'm very pleased with it. However........

I've just been offered - for free - a 2001 V6 Connoisseur Tourer. 85k miles, and one lady owner from new so very well cared for. Too good to be true? There is, of course, a snag. It has a significant water leak, using a couple of pints of water over about 20 miles. Her garage, who I suspect don't want to know) say its an engine hose (they say they can see the source of the leak from below with the undertray removed) but it is so hard to get at it will cost £400+ to repair it.

My question is, can anyone suggest what the source of the leak might be (is this possibly a known failure in the cooling system)? It is far too good to scrap, which was her intention, but I would like some idea of what I might be letting myself in for before I drive it away! I also wonder whether, rather than take many things apart to access the hose (if that is what it is) whether it might be possible to bypass the fault completely with another hose.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
