Gear change: diagnosis
Short of fitting the MS slickshift, I've done everything I could think of.
*) Changed oil to gearbox
*) SS Rose jointed bell crank
*) Shortened gearstick, tightened bolts
*) changed both master and slave cylinder with new ones
*) Properly bled the clutch (3 times)
To bleed the clutch I've use the eazybleed kit that use the spare tyre pressure.
What is happening:
* kit in situ, clutch liquid under pressure, all nipples closed. Clutch pedal is rock-hard and the gear change as smooth as silk.
* Kit removed, resrvoir closed, the clutch pedal is softer, gear engage less freely
Conclusion 1: the clutch has not enough pressure to completely operate the lever in the engine bay.
With the kit in site, and the oil "pressurized", the gear change is a wonder.
Conclusion 2: even if the gear stick weared bearnings cause sloppy gear selection, I'm sure it's only part of the problem, and investing in the slickshift will not cure (at least) my issue.
Question: a way to augment pressure in the system? A defective master cylinder?
