interior lights

hello all, long time no see! but I'm back!!

mate of mine has just got an 05 plate &% contempary (s?) tourer and the interior lights are a bit weird, they seem dull, the front works sometimes, the rear one seems to work ok on the doors, but the rear passenger compartment doesn't seem to work at all, can't possible be just the bulbs or fuses somewhere? the from ones map reading lights don't seem to work, so what could be up?

is the front one like a master unit, as in the rear passenger one works through it? i never had a problem like this, and i hate electrics anyway,

any tricks to try?

if and when we get it working, can anyone recommend any LED bulbs to use in them?

hope this car works out for him too, i kinda recommended one for being a solid car, i know all cars have problems of some sort, but heres hoping!
