Tailgate Hinge Snapped - how to repair?

Tailgate Hinge Snapped - how to repair?

On a 52 plate Rover 45 2.0TD 5 door hatch, I opened the boot and the drivers side rear hinge totally snapped.

How do I repair this? What do I take off to do a repair?

There is no rust around the hinges. All very sound.

The door pin is part of the hinge that is still on the car and that is in good shape. But the tailgate/door pin has the remains of a sleeve of the broken hinge wrapped around it.

What confuses me is that whereas the broken hinge will unbolt by two studs from the tailgate, the other part of the hinge is welded and riveted (two big ones) to the body.

Does this mean I have to hammer out the pin ? (tailgate/door hinge pin)

If so any tips as hammering out a door pin as that is usually a hard job?

(Also not sure where to get replacement parts as Rimmer bros will be very expensive.)

Any help appreciated
