boost leak or paperclip mod not for me?
At the weekend I decided to try the paper clip mod. I've never had a working Maf, seems the car has always had it unplugged, so decided the paperclip mod is a good way to see the potential of a mafless remap and more.
And what a difference, I cant believe how much more the car is fun to drive lower down the gears when a fuller rev range is available.
I have noticed though, when I floor the gas, I hear a kind of faint squealing sound until I ease off. I didn't notice this before the paperclip mod, so i'm assuming this is linked to max fueling?
Another symptom is, despite max fueling giving the car a much more power, for example last night I was coming out of a 50mph zone on the motorway in fifth gear at about 2000rpm As soon as I was out of the zone and I floored it, the engine spun up, hesitated at 2200rpm, kept spinning up, and again at about 2800rpm hesitated again. My speed still shot up it just wasnt as even as it should be?
I've got SDIs, egr removed, boost turned up to 19psi, paperclip between pins 1 and 5. At idle using a bluetooth reader and torque app, its showing -0.5psi on the boost counter.
I briefly had a look at the intercooler pipes, but didn't have time to get the bottom one off, I assume thats just a long screwdriver and jamming your hand in the gap kind of job?
Cheers
