ffs. HGF. Rover 25.. Realistic approach to this..

Hi gents,My car has gone back into the garage to have a further water leak fixed. Water pump was changed and everything was fine, then my engine light kept coming on, flicking on and off also, and as it did I lost power to the car. - Long and short, put it back in, the head gasket has gone. Its on its way out. Too much to use it much further and cause more damage. My MOT is due at the end of this month. This month I'll be earning £1050; £300 will go to my other-half as I pay for her stint at uni. £300 also will go towards a holiday Im paying off monthly. I have my £30 phone bill and £65 car insurance, other than that Im free as a bird.I havnt asked for anything else to be checked over on the car before the MOT yet, but how would you guys go about this? I have been told of a product called "Steel Seal" for £30 which'll keep the head gasket going for another year-ish. If this was to work with no further mechanical issues, it buys me time, time to get my finances together and have the head gasket sorted properly. Nobody sees it viable except me. Im under the impression that the HG has lasted 13 years, replacing it would mean the car could physically go that distance again. Can I have some real advice now please. I'll take everything onboard and I really want to keep this car on the road, but if the cons outweigh the pros, then its a fair cop.
