Help finding leak - 416 H/B

My wifes '95 416 hatchback has been parked up for a while over winter to save a bit of money.

The other day some idiot wrote off my Lexus so I arranged for my local mechanic to give hers the once over in prep for an MOT.



When I went to take it to him I found the carpet in the drivers well soaked with water.



I checked the sunroof drainage and that is draining into the wheel arch as expected.

Next I removed the scuttle as I have seen reports that blockage in this can cause problems - but there is no blockage and the water runs off to the sides and down to the arches with no problem.



When I lifted the mat to dry it I found that the water is coming in from somewhere behind the black rubber skin by the pedals.

I'm looking for suggestions as to where next I should check for the leak.



Any advice appreciated.
