Interchangeable engines???
Instead of spending quite a bit to have rotten sills patched on my wife's 1995 416SLi Auto H/B (46,000 on clock), I have been offered an immaculate 1999 Honda Civic 1.4 Auto (in the same colour, 100,000 on clock and with aftermarket Rover leather seating) for about the same money as it will cost to put her car through its MOT and repair the sills - which comes with long MOT and Tax already on it.
I have seen conflicting information about the compatibility of parts on these cars, and in particular the engine/gearbox.
I know the manual cars are different, but I have been told that the Auto Rover does not have the dreaded 'K' series engine but uses a Honda engine and as such is transferable to a Honda civic which had the auto box.
I cannot see the car for a few days and wonder if anyone here has definitive knowledge on this subject that they could share.
Thanks
