newbie error code p1688?

hi to all I have a mg zr 04 plate td which just stopped dead on me on Friday at a junction, then would not start pushed it to the side tried pumping diesel and it came out of bleed screw so was getting fuel but still no start just turned over? then disconnected earth lead on battery for a few mins and put back on and it started, but now have diesel eml light on with code p1688? fuel pump communication error, it seems to drive fine but eml light on? any advice? cheers
