To keep or to scrap?

Hello. I have a rover 25 from 2000. It has recently had problems with leaking water, heating not working and generally not running very well, though it always starts first time.

A rover specialist mechanic diagnosed a problem with the head gasket - this is after fitting a new water pump which didn't fix the problem.



I'd really appreciate some advice on whether to pay the 700.00 to get it fixed or to scrap it and buy anther second hand car.



the mechanic also fitted a new clutch cable which has made a vast improvement to the way it drives and handles.



It is a good car and ideally I'd like to keep it. However having paid only 600.00 for it plus servicing and new tyres I don't know if I am throwing more money at a car that should be put out to pasture so to speak.
