Consequences of engine mount failure
Not quite a mount failure, but similar in principle.
I'm changing the headgasket on my car at the moment, MG ZS with 1.8 petrol engine. Part of that process is removing the engine mount so the cam belt can be removed.
Anyway, Saturday evening I had the engine supported on a jack after removing all but the cylinder head itself. Came out to work on it Sunday morning, and the friggin' jack failed! I've no idea if it suddenly gave way, or if it slowly lowered the engine down.
Anyway, effectively the engine was hanging in the bay without the cam-belt engine mount fitted and my question is, is it likely to have damaged anything?
Thanks in advance :)
