I'm Flummoxed. AGAIN!!

Hi all.

The 'BAD'?

I recently found oil in the coolant bottle of my 2002 (51) ZS.

It 'seems' to lack power (no 'umph'). (However, it has done over 95,000 miles).

If I drive over around 3,000 rpm, even for a short time (i.e. when overtaking), coolant disappears. But if I stay at around 2,000 rpm the coolant is steady.

The 'GOOD'?

There's no coolant is in the oil.

The spark plugs are a nice 'biscuit' colour.

The car has never overheated since I bought it in 2011.

It fires up first time & runs smooth.

Compressions are: cyl 1, 225psi. Cyl 2, 225psi. Cyl 3, 220psi. Cyl 4, 225psi.

There are no obvious visible external signs of coolant leakage.

I was gearing up to do a HG change, but am now having second thoughts due to the 'good' bits. I'm now thinking it might be the inlet manifold gasket. Would a failure of that, give the symptoms of the 'bad'? Including the perceived low power?

Any replies/advice received with thanks.
