R65 inner cv joint.
I've been meaning to ask this for some time but never got around to this. As people who know these cars well will know the inner cv joints on the r65 box type are a pig as you cannot pop the splines out or the internals its self. This is down to a circlip retaining it. You can separate the joint itself be pressing off the sleeve but I've never been able to re seal this properly. so Ive always done the inner boots by stipping off the outer cv boot and removing the damper and sliding the new boot up. There are very few cars that use this design and all the ones I have come across have used a sleeve that can be un screwed.
Am I missing something ?? it seems strange that rover designed the unit so once it had been disassembled it was basically thrown in the bin.
