Coolant issues
Did a 20 mile journey today, and coolant issues started.
Boiling in the expansion tank with steam coming it, then the coolant light lit up. Temperature didn't budge, stayed at the normal temperature on the gauge. Pulled over at a garage and filled up with some water, and it started boiling again, but temperature remained constant.
Got it home and the oil was dreadfully low on the dipstick, so topped it up and then filled up the expansion tank with the engine running. When I turned the engine off the level went down, so topped it back up to max, then when I started the engine again it started overflowing and boiling over.
There's no water mixture in the oil and doesn't seem to be any oil in the expansion tank (may have seen a hint of it, but need to do some further tests). There's no blue smoke coming out the back as well, and no signs of oil leaks, so not sure where the oil is going.
Would thermostat be a good place to start?
