Rear tailgate removal help

I have a new MG tailgate to put on and my problem is removing the existing Rover tailgate. The screws are badly rusted and cant seem to grip at all with any screwdriver fittings. Plus they seem like special screw fittings. Either way, they are damn well rusted and asking for any tips or help at all on removing these.
