Rover 75 poor acceleration below 2500rpm
Hi
I am wondering if anyone can help. I bought a 1999 Rover 75, V6 petrol automatic 2 weeks ago. I have ordered a HAynes manual and am waiting for it to arrive, but in the meantime......the acceleration is really poor below 2200-2500rpm; it is a struggle to reach 30mph but after 2500rpm it flies!
From googling and reading here it seems that the problem might be the maf /map sensor. So I would like to disconnect that to see if that is indeed the issue. My first question is -where is it?! The photos I have found online appear to be of different engines to mine. The air filter is at the front right hand side of the car as I stand in front and look at it and I removed the first layer of engine cover (that covers the plug leads and sits around the oil filler cap). I understand the maf/map sensor should be somewhere near there and the air filter but am not sure what I am looking for?
My second question is that - assuming this sensor is the problem - I will wnat tio replace it. I have contacted Rimmer to ask about a replacement sensor. They have suggested 'MHK100820 sensor manifold pressure'. Do anyone know if this is the same thing as the maf /map sensor that causes the low acceleration problem?
Sorry if any of this is unclear, and appreciating any help!
