Tf le500 hgf? :'(
originally posted this as a reply to cjj's thread about the faulty le500 oil temp gauge, but decided to repost as a new thread. can anyone advise me?
i've got a terrible feeling my head gasket may have gone on my new le500 :-/
i had noticed a few weeks back that the oil guage was not always registering the temp and sometimes didn't move from a negative position, but wasn't too concerned as i don't push her too hard and had heard the gasket issue has been resolved in the new models with the uprated steel gasket in the newer n-series engine. that said i always try not to be too rough when the engine is cool and have been keeping an eye on the coolant.
this evening, i got in and started the engine and the coolant level warning light stayed lit, so when I got home i checked the coolant and it has dropped to the MIN level. i just need a top, i tell myself, but then i thought i'd just take a look at the dipstick... there are drops of the dreaded chocolate milkshake on there!! OY. MY. GAWD!!
it looks like it is just a few spots of milkyness, and there is also some regular clear toffee coloured oil on there too, but it's not a promising sign is it? can anyone advise me whether this may be something else or am i looking at the godforsaken HGF? i thought this would be a none issue now i have an le500
some background: i have suffered HGF on both my prvious MG's - an F and a TF160. any advice from the site gurus? i could cry right now...
