central locking - Gone Haywire

Yesterday my dashboard light came on that the boot was open. It wasn't and everything else seemed ok. In the evening I got out car and hit the fob to lock it. The car locked fine but the hazards didn't flash like normal. I locked and unlocked the car a few times to check and it was all ok but again no hazards.



Now here is the disaster - This morning I went out and hit the unlock key fob button and there was a loud clicking but car did not unlock. I tried it again and noticed the clicking was maybe coming from the boot. I tried key in boot and boot opened but then the system started clicking like mad all locks although not actually locking and unlocking them, just clicking like crazy. After about 3 minutes battery drained and it stopped.



Does anyone know what the hell went wrong? Or what will be the problem that needs repaired? Must admit was quite shocked.
