Coolant Pipe Burst
So the MG TF I picked up only two weeks ago has had its first breakdown! Drove only 2 miles from home to pick up a Mcdonalds, started smelling an odd smell half way there which I couldn't really tell was in/outside the car, coolant temp was good, and couldn't see any steam or smoke in my mirrors in city traffic. As I pulled up at the drive-thru window I heard the hiss from the rear and within 15 seconds the engine bay was pouring out steam. I turned the engine off immediately and pushed the car in to a space. The leak appeared to be coming from engine coolant pipes (which are close to the manifold, hence a lot of steam?), but without a jack I couldn't see much. It lost all its coolant very quickly though!
I've got some stainless steel underfloor pipes waiting to go on and I've been and stocked up on coolant, so am looking to get it sorted at a garage ASAP. If I was at home I would be able to do it myself but I'm currently living away in Sheffield.
Has any anyone had any experience with South Yorkshire Auto Diagnostics, supposedly specialising in MG TFs? And what are the chances of a garage being able to collect the car?
On another note, can anyone suggest the best place to get a Genuine service kit for the 160 VVC? (Airfilter, Oil filter + Sump washer, Fuel filter, Spark Plugs)
