Clutch hydraulic line extra fitting?

Does anyone know what the bit of extra gubbins on the Clutch line is for? :-











I should point out the two 8 mm hex headed retaining bolts have been removed in the photos. Was trying to get a bit of movement to get the wiper mech past it ....................... no go!



Damned bit is stopping the wiper mechanism coming out and the motor is making a dreadful racket.
