Diesel non start

Hi people,need some help with my R 45,left the lights on and flattened the battery,since charging an re-connecting on turning the ignition on the rev counter rises to 1000 rpm and there is a ticking from one of the relays.The engine will turn over but will not start.Would be very grateful for any ideas.Thanks in advance.
