My Latest Project
Here we go again.............
A friend of mine had an engine issue with his Silver 3dr 1.4 ZR so he bought my 1.6 Copperleaf 45 Saloon to keep him on the road, and I took the ZR.
Initially he took th car to his local garage with a suspected starter motor fault, they did a compression check. no compression on No 1, low on No2 3 and 4 OKish
I collected the car for him to get it off the road, as the road tax had just expired, and set about investigating, tried to set the crank timing to check if the timing had slipped, but couldn't turn the crank fully, I was suspicious to say the least, an hour later the head was off, it ain't pretty
No 1 exhaust valve heads sat on the cracked piston and liner, all the other exhaust valves also had met the pistons
She's really clean, 50k miles and in my opinion worth saving , a few pics after a quick clean
I have just bought a 32k mile engine to replace the item currently fitted from Simon_rs, great deal as ever!!
I have stripped the replacement angine of all ancillaries and have done the same woth the engine in the car, can anyone confirm if it is feasible to replace the engine without removing the gearbox? looks do-able although I may need to remove the front pulley
Comments welcome
