Roof Rack : What's the maximum load?

I've just acquired a roof rack (at a good price on eBay) but it occurred to me afterwards that even if the rack itself is super-strong, there's probably a maximum load specified for the car.



So, I did a spot of research and found that typical values are 50Kg and 75Kg, but I couldn't find a definitive answer anywhere for the Rover 400/45. Can anyone enlighten me?
