TF front suspension strip-straightforward?

Im having a look at changing my front pads,on my AP's,and possibly either re-newing,or skimming my discs while im there,but looking at the set up,im also complemplating taking off the road spring/damper,the hub/stub axle,to be able to replace a ball joint gaiter and clean every thing up,as its all surface rust covered.With it all out of the way,i can clean/waxoyl the bottom wishbone also,then.I think from the manual,the road spring is not under compression,so will un- bolt,pull out, and can be stripped to its individual parts with out using a spring compressor? I would be grateful for someone to confirm this,as it all looks very straight forward,if the case.Many thanks for help.
