Welding flexi-pipe flange

Hi All. I took my 97 VVC MGF for it's Mot. The exhaust is slightly blowing from Flexi-pipe where it joins the flange. The flexi-pipe section looks like a concertina and that looks ok. Can this be welded or Braised. The Mot guy said I could probably use an exhaust bandage, but I think welding would be stronger. Has this happened to anyone and what is the best course of action. many thanks guys.
