what would produce the least smoke with digimafam?

On my 45 today ive fitted my 200tdi hybrids, also blanked my egr, fitted new leak off pipes, new fuel filter, de gunked the inlet, changed the oil and filter, fitted a k&n panel filter and a boost gauge. I have bought a pierburg maf to go on but i realised i didnt have the right tool to fit it.

I took the 45 out for a test drive tonight and it produced quite a decent bit of smoke from part to full throttle with a knackered bosch maf fitted and mafam turned down to map 1.

Only other mod is decat, i havent adjusted the actuator rod but the hybrids have pushed boost up to 18 psi.

As i dont know the ins and outs of how the mafam works my question is, are they a case of map 1 least power so technically less smoke. And how does fitting a pierburg maf affect the way the mafam improves performance?

On a side note, after 2 miles the car decided to get major belt squeal when going round a roundabout and continued all the way home?!?!?!
